From April 29 to May 2, 2025, DMG MORI USA will unveil its latest innovations in machining and automation during the Chicago Innovation Days 2025. Hosted at the state-of-the-art Chicago Solutions Center in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, this event will take place in a spacious 21,000 sq. ft. (2,000 sqm) test-cut center, showcasing a commitment to advancing manufacturing technologies.

The theme of this year’s event is MX – Machining Transformation, which emphasizes the integration of process management, automation, and digital and green transformations. Attendees will have the opportunity to witness the debut of 25 high-tech machines and automation solutions. Noteworthy highlights include the NZ TRE, CTX beta 450 TC, Vertical Mate 85 2nd Generation, and the LASERTEC 30 SLM US, a pioneering additive manufacturing solution proudly designed and assembled in the USA.
Live demonstrations and expert seminars
Attendees at the Chicago Innovation Days will experience live demonstrations of advanced machining technologies, including 5-axis milling, turn-mill operations, grinding, and additive manufacturing. The event will also feature a new DXchange area, providing insights into DMG MORI’s latest digital solutions. The NLX series from DMG MORI is set to redefine universal turning in industries ranging from automotive to medical technology. This series exemplifies stability, flexibility, and advanced technology integration. At the Innovation Days, the NLX 2500 2nd Generation will be showcased, featuring both standalone and automated solutions. This model boasts 55mm box guideways, double-bearing ball screws, and a reinforced machine bed, ensuring exceptional rigidity.
Performance highlights of the NLX 2500
With turnMASTER spindles capable of delivering up to 1,273Nm of torque on the left side and 577Nm on the right, the NLX 2500 can handle a diverse range of heavy-duty machining tasks. The dynamic BMT turret, operating at speeds of up to 12,000rpm, ensures efficient complete machining, while a turning diameter of 366mm and a turning length of 708mm further expand its capabilities. The NLX 2500’s design allows for machining of various components with precision and ease.
Exploring the NZ series
Building on decades of experience, DMG MORI has developed the new NZ series, featuring a modular platform that accommodates diverse machining needs. This system allows for both bar and chuck machining, with options for multiple units, including B-axis and TWIN spindle configurations. Designed for versatility, the short version is suitable for workpieces up to 740mm, while the long version can handle components up to 1,290mm in length.

The NZ series is engineered for stability and precision, featuring a symmetrical architecture bed that maintains high thermal stability and consistent chip removal performance. With a 19″ DMG MORI SLIMline touch panel and FANUC 30iB control, users can expect an intuitive interface that enhances operational efficiency.
CTX beta 450 TC: A game changer in production
The CTX beta 450 TC is designed for ease of use and efficiency, making it an ideal solution for future production needs. Its new CELOS X control generation streamlines workflows through app-based interfaces, enabling operators to utilize innovations like OPWorkbench for simplified NC programming. The machine supports 5-axis simultaneous machining and 6-sided complete machining, all within a compact footprint of just 10m².
Performance specifications of the CTX beta 450 TC
Capable of accommodating workpieces with diameters up to 400mm and lengths up to 1,100mm, the CTX beta 450 TC also offers bar capacity options of 76mm or 102mm for both spindles. The heart of this model is the compactMASTER turn-mill spindle, featuring standard speeds of 15,000rpm and optional speeds up to 20,000rpm, along with maximum torque ratings of 720Nm. Its rapid traverse speeds of up to 50m/min highlight its impressive performance capabilities.
Vertical Mate 85 2nd Generation: Precision grinding
The Vertical Mate 85 2nd Generation represents the latest advancement in DMG MORI’s range of multiprocess grinding machines. This new model has been refined based on customer feedback and extensive testing, ensuring high-precision performance with roundness accuracy of up to 1µm. Its mechanical structure has been optimized through vibration tests and finite element analysis for enhanced stability.
Key features of the Vertical Mate 85
Equipped with a speedMASTER LongNose spindle developed in-house, the Vertical Mate 85 delivers an output of 18.5kW, a torque of 35.3Nm, and a maximum speed of 10,000rpm. This ensures high efficiency in grinding internal, external, and end faces, meeting the demands of various industries including aerospace and automotive.
Innovations in additive manufacturing
DMG MORI’s LASERTEC 30 SLM US showcases the potential of additive manufacturing in metal production. This powder bed machine benefits from over a century of machine tool design experience, resulting in enhanced accuracy and stiffness. With a build volume of 300mm x 300mm x 320mm and a layer thickness of just 30µm, it is capable of producing large and complex parts.

The LASERTEC 30 features a programmable high-power 1,200W laser equipped with beam shaping technology, ensuring both high precision and productivity. Innovative software capabilities, including Adaptive Beam Control, allow for precise laser property management, making it ideal for producing high-quality components for demanding applications.
